Latest Updates from Our Project:

Sculpts previews!
over 4 years ago – Fri, May 15, 2020 at 01:47:31 AM

Hello!

We are moving incredibly fast with stretch goals sculpts! Every day is very exciting for us to see the progress with the stretch goals dragons and today, almost 3 weeks since the campaign ended, we want to share a lot of screenshots with you.

But first!

Let's wrap up Dehrilya's painting contest. In the previous update we shared with you Thiago Bahury's submission which was winning paint job chosen by Dehrilya's sculptor. And in order for everyone to have a chance to be a winner, our parent company Draco Studios picked one random winner. Here's the Facebook livestream in case you missed it.

Congratulations @deadlords! You are our randomly picked winner! Here's the painted bust from @deadlords

And now, let's see more amazing dragon sculpts:

First, we have the finished sculpt of Xylaarion, by Danko.

After wrapping up Xylaarion, Danko started sculpting Vyraetra which is a very fun model with the burrowing part of its body and the tower it is standing on. The following images are still a work in progress subject to revisions.

Our creative director felt the tower could have a different approach so with the proper direction, Danko skillfully re-sculpted the tower which now feels more realistic.

David Pereira started collaborating with us for Balleg. As you may recall, we are using the art from Masters and Minions by Jetpack7.

This dragon has had a couple of revisions by our creative director, every time looking better.

After some minor last changes, this dragon will be completed too!

Kylian just started with Ilizinnii some days ago and it is looking great as well. This on is still at T-Pose revision, so please don't pay attention to the current static posing:

Valerio wrapped up the largest of the dragons in this collection: Zuth. This titan has entire forests growing in its skin. Valerio and our creative director gave Zuth a powerful presence, the model was missing some balance in the pose but it is now perfect, there's even a base for it including the footprint of where one of its limbs was before.

WE WANT TO SEE HUMONGOUS 3D PRINTS OF ZUTH!

Seriously, we are even considering to create an official 3D printing challenge to see who can print the largest Zuth. We will keep you updated about this.

Valerio was all in to see large prints for this so we will be sending you 3 versions, the solid file, the split files at 200mm tall, and the scaled split files with Zuth's largest part measuring 6 inches long. But you can customize your files even more in your slicer to print truly titanic versions of Zuth!

Get ready for Zuth 3D printing Challenge!
Zuth split files. Legs are not split in the image but you will find them split too in your files.

And speaking of Titanic monsters, the world serpent is here! Feast your eyes with Jörmungand's model, sculpted in all its majesty by Roberto Chaudon.

That's everything for now but we will be back next week with more exciting previews. We also have a little surprise in the works, but we are laying out the details for that one. Stay tuned.

IMPORTANT REMINDER: Files have not been delivered yet, Pledge Manager is scheduled to be live at the end of May.

You will get an email IN LATE MAY to access your STL files.

Thanks again for all your support! Without you, none of this would be possible. With Dragons of the Red Moon and Legendary Dragons 3D, you will definitely have the most beautiful and impressive dragon sculpts in the world.

Dehrilya Bust Winner!
over 4 years ago – Wed, May 06, 2020 at 01:21:11 AM

 Hello!

It's time to announce the winner of the painting bust contest but first, let us address some common questions we have seen in the comments:

  • When will I get access to the files?

After you answer your survey in the pledge manager you will get access to the core rewards from Legendary Dragons 3D (Glitz, Red Great Wyrm, Vanadon) plus all Dragons of the Red Moon files. In the coming weeks after that, we will be uploading the stretch goal models as they are finished.

  • When will the pledge manager/surveys be sent?

In late May you will receive an email invitation to complete your survey and access your files. There you will be able to include the Dragon Hunting pack and other add-ons like the epic encounters for Dragons of the Red Moon.

  • Can I sell/buy physical prints?

You will be able to find/offer 3D printing services near your area. This feature will be enabled in late June.

  • Is the content of the PDF and Harcover book for Legendary Dragons is the same?

Yes.

In the coming weeks, Itzel from Draco Studios core team will be providing customer support to this project in the comment section and emails/messages. We will still be here but at this moment we are very focused on revisions/optimization for sculpts and finishing the code and UX/UI of our platform.

Dehrilya bust painting contest - Winners

First of all, let us say that this was a really difficult decision because there were so many cool color schemes and paint-jobs. Thanks so much for participating and sharing with us! We enjoyed watching ALL OF THEM!

We asked the sculptor for Dehrilya – and all Dragons of the Red Moon models – Daniel Ehrli to review all submissions and pick the winner. Fun fact: Dehrilya, the Forge Queen is named after him and Daniel is also director of Draco Forge resin cast workshop.

Congratulations Thiago Bahury! You are the winner of this painting contest! A dice-set from Dragons of the Red Moon will be sent to you.

Instagram @tbahury

Livestream for additional random winner

Whether you have many years of experience or you are fairly new to the miniatures painting hobby, we believe everyone deserves a chance to win for participating in our painting contests.

We will randomly pick one random winner from all the remaining submissions in a Live Stream on our Facebook page: LAIR. This Livestream will take place on May 6th at 12:00 PM Central Standard Time.

Join us in the Live Stream and like LAIR Facebook fanpage!

Sculpts in progress

We have more previews to share with you. The first one is Kiennavalyriss which is officially finished and currently in splitting and design optimization.

Here are some views for Xylaarion, we are making some revisions on the wings textures and base rocks so it seems even more like flying. Chains will be added soon. Larger images will be shared once it is finished.

Zuth "T-Pose" is currently in progress as well. Zuth is massive, and we would love to see some of you printing this at Colossal size. It has entire forests in its skin and more of these will be added soon in the next revision along with posing and other asymmetric details.

Thanks again for all your support and stay tuned for more updates about the sculpts progress and pledge management progress. We hope to see you tomorrow in our Livestream.

More previews + Yet another perk!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Apr 28, 2020 at 10:30:02 PM

Hello!

It's been only a couple of days since the last update but we have missed you!

We brought some exciting previews of some of the stretch goal models. We are moving as quick as we can to offer you the fastest fulfillment! There are a ton of models unlocked though but we are not stopping!

First we have the final sculpt for Dräken! This one will enter into 3D printing optimization soon.

Dräken sculpt by Goh.

Next we have some turnaround pictures of dragons that are still in progress. Take into account that some of these are in the first stage (blockout). Larger images will be provided once we have the final models.

Kiennavalyriss final revision. Sculpt by Kylian

Kiennavalyriss is about to be finished and entering into 3d print optimization and splitting!

The next ones, Xylaarion and Zuth, just started so they are more basic forms, but it is exciting to start seeing these.

Xylaarion sculpt blockout (1st stage) by Danko.

We are trying to make Zuth as epic and huge as possible. We are sure Valerio will have amazing results to share soon.

Zuth sculpt blockout (first stage) by Valerio.

More pictures at a higher resolution will be shared as these are approved and enter into 3D printing optimization stage.

Failed pledges

You still have 48hours left to fix your pledge before Kickstarter marks it as dropped. Don't worry, you will still have the chance to fix your payment in our pledge manager.

Another extra perk for you from Draco Studios!

As you all know, Draco Studios is our parent company and we are a big group. Different small-to-medium-sized teams working in different projects. The largest group (15+ people) is in the development side of Draco Studios working on IP development for RPG (Eldritch Century, Dragonbond, Creature Kingdoms). Lair (us) is a 6-people team + sculptors focused on tabletop 3D printing. Another 5-people team is Draco Forge; resin-cast miniatures workshop. There are some retail stores and board game cafés too. And finally the 4-people team focused on board games is our sibling company Detestable Games.

Detestable Games is focused in board game design and playtesting. Mostly for family games, euro games and card games. They had a game inspired on Mario Kart which theme was changed to fit within Draco Studios' universe Creature Kingdoms; the game became Dodos Riding Dinos which went live today on Kickstarter.

Since Lair is part of Draco Studios, the loyalty reward offered in Dodos Riding Dinos applies to all of you!

All returning backers pledging for a copy of the game will get Kux & Babbey for free with their pledge. This is a hilarious crossover for Kuxcoatl (from Dragons of the Red Moon) in the style of Creature Kingdoms!

In addition, there's a reward tier for STL and Print&Play files but all Day-1 backers pledging for the game will also get those for free.

You can always back at the "No reward" tier and upgrade your pledge afterwards.

Some of us at Lair had the chance to play the game before the current global situation and the experience brilliant. The dexterity mechanics (for the power-ups) usually cause laughs around the table. It is simple enough to be catalogued as a kids game but adults will definitely have fun as well (we had). But you can read more reviews in the campaign:

Click to check Dodos Riding Dinos on Kickstarter.

Last update we messed up a little bit and mixed some names so we want to make things right. The Arcane Dragon miniature that all backers in all-in levels from Skies of Sordane will receive was sculpted by Mini Monster Mayhem. And speaking of which, this is just a friendly reminder that you have only a few days left to have access to this deal and Kickstarter pricing for Skies of Sordane late pledges.

We will be back soon with more news about the progress for Legendary Dragons 3D pledge manager and more pictures for the stretch goal models. Have an excellent week!

Everything unlocked!

If you missed the campaign and are navigating in the updates to find info about late pledges, click here and subscribe to our newsletter to be notified about it.

Unbelievable!

We just aimed to create truly legendary sculpts for these Legendary Dragons by Jetpack7.

And you made the whole campaign to be remarkable enough to also be considered as that, Legendary Kickstarter!

  • It only took you 48hrs to unlock 8 new stretch goals, half as much as the ones you unlocked in the first 22 days! Wow, just... wow. This project is officially fully stretched!! All dragons in the book and more will come to life for 3D print thanks to you!
  • 21 highly detailed dragons (including a new one with Fury's Dragon form)
  • 4 Dragonoids and other type of creatures
  • 3 Kobolds and 1 Dräken
  • 2 Variants for Fury plus her RPG mini adventure

Plus the Dragon Hunting Airship, Captain and Crew models that will be available in the pledge manager as an optional buy.

Can you believe our initial prediction considered only 10 dragons?? We were sooo wrong! THANK YOU!!!

HERE'S EVERYTHING YOU UNLOCKED SINCE YESTERDAY'S UPDATE:

  THIS IS BEYOND SPECTACULAR!

That's right! You even managed to unlock Dräken!

Just take a look at the amazing prints for Dehrilya's bust and the paint jobs from this amazing community around Legendary Dragons!

If you shared your print and didn't find it in the video, please make sure you had public settings in your Facebook post or that you correctly tagged us or Draco Studios.

We will review all painted submissions and declare a winner in the coming days. Good luck and thanks to every backer who participated, it is always very exciting to see your prints and paint jobs!

Time to see previews of the sculpts in progress! Well, the first one was in the video. We started working on Dräken some days ago because it was highly requested on Jetpacks7's Discord Server and we already had received half of the prints at that time. But in addition to Dräken, who was a social goal. Let's see some dragons!

First we have Kiennavalyriss second revision. Still a Work in Progress but it is looking good. Glasses will be thickened and once detailing is done, the pet and posing will be next.

Work in progress sculpt by Kylian Zannettacci

And now, the Beast of War. An extremely popular dragon at the beginning of the campaign:

Sculpted by Valerio Carbone. He truly did an amazing job for Balaur. The armor and scars were carefully sculpted to achieve the look this dragon's backstory provides. We even asked Jetpack7 if we could break the horn that is not visible in the illustration to match this dragon's lore. Here's another shot where the broken horn is more visible:

Some of you have been asking about how we plan to split the files. This varies depending on the model, but we will aim to make it in a smart way. Most of the chosen sculptors for these project are familiar with this process:

Valerio is a master when it comes to hide seams, and he used this dragon's armor to achieve great results.

We were already delighted about the collaboration for the Dragon Hunting Airship with Benny and the team behind Skies of Sordane (Arcane Minis) but to read all of your positive comments and excitement for seeing us join forces with them just fill our hearts with sparkling joy. Our main focus is to grow the 3D printing community around tabletop gaming, so you can expect us to look for collaborations like this one in the future! There are so many incredible projects and talented creators that deserve to keep growing!

We have also seen consistent questions about all of this so here are the pointers again, feel free to ask us any further concerns you may have:

  • Arcane Minis will sculpt the Dragon Hunting Airship only within the Dragon Hunting pack. The crew models will be sculpted by us and the RPG supplement developed by Jetpack7.
  • All backers (or late backers) in their All-in pledge levels will get the Airship model for FREE. And will be elegible to get the full Dragon Hunting pack in our pledge manager at a discount (33% off)
  • You can join their late pledges here: https://www.myminifactory.com/campaigns/skies-of-sordane-17 and still get the models for their special Kickstarter price plus an exclusive Arcane Dragon (sculpted by Mini Monster Mayhem). This special price and Kickstarter Exclusive minis will be gone after May 1st. You can get them today, tomorrow, in a couple of days, but after May 1st Kickstarter price and exclusive dragon model won't be available anymore.

Thank you letter

On behalf of everyone involved in this project, the team at Lair, the sculptors Roberto Chaudon, Axolote Gaming, Valerio Carbone, Goh, Kylian Zannettacci, Arcane Minis, the team at Jetpack7, and the team at Draco Studios we want to thank you again with all our strength for making this campaign such a Legendary experience and believing in us to develop this project. This gratitude is multiplied even more since you are supporting us in complicated times. Please stay safe so you can show us your dragon 3D prints in a couple of weeks.

As you may know, Draco Studios is our parent company and creators of the Dragons of the Red Moon in an upcoming Dragonbond universe with wargame, RPG and graphic novel releases. The whole group within Draco Studios have different projects in the tabletop gaming industry. This campaign has been the most-backed campaign from within the group of Draco Studios.

Your support and praise for the dragons sculpts, graphics, and communication is greatly appreciated and encourages us to do our best for fulfilling our promises!

As Lair, we are also thankful with Jetpack7 for allowing us to carve a little more life into these already amazing dragon concepts. The last step to make these dragons come to real life is in your hands and your 3D printers. We can't imagine doing all of this alone, your involvement in this and future projects is crucial to make them the best they could possibly be. You have done so much for us by supporting this project in trying times but after you get your files we want to ask you one final thing: Make us part of your story! Share your talent with us! Post as many links as you wish in the comments with the links to your 3D prints, tag us (Lair or Draco Studios) in social media, and once we open more sharing features on LAIR, post your pictures and comments there! Let us know as much as you want, your printer model, scale, material, challenges, impressions... all of it, you are part of this story which begun 24 days ago, in March 31st. Thank you for joining us!

Stay in touch with us in Facebook!

Next steps

Most of you are already familiar with Kickstarter but for those of you who are not familiar with the platform, haven't backed many campaigns, or have a failed pledge pending to fix, here's what you should do or expect in the next weeks:

  •  Kickstarter will process payments this week and will deposit funds to our account in 2 weeks. Backers with errored pledges must fix their payment (more about that below) within the next 7 days.
  • We will finish setting up our own pledge manager dedicated to 3D printing (LAIR) to send your surveys in 4-5 weeks. Here, you will be able to add extra items such as the Dragon Hunting Pack, upgrade your pledge level and pay for shipping fees (in case you have physical items in your rewards) as well as letting us know your mailing address (only if you have physical rewards). We will accept late pledges for a short time in here (in case you know someone who missed the campaign) but of course, our backers always get the best deals, so late pledges might not have the same price or bundles than the reward tiers but rather, they will be separate items for late pledges.
  • We plan to share the progress with you and to deliver your digital rewards as we finish them.

Errored pledges

If you had issues from Kickstarter charging your credit or debit card, (you can tell if you received an e-mail about it) follow this steps:

  • Identify the source of the problem and provide the solution:    1. Your card has no funds: Transfer funds to it.  2. Another Kickstarter project you backed ended on the same day: Your bank blocked the card for security by thinking it was a duplicated charge.  3. Your card is incompatible with Kickstarter US charge hub: Try using a different card (yours or from a friend).
  • On a web browser (not in the app) go to https://www.kickstarter.com/ and log into your account.
  • You will see a red banner at the top of the website saying you have an errored pledge. Click on "Fix Payment"
  • Try again with the proper card (see the first step: Identify the source of the problem)

There is a bug on which Kickstarter states you have successfully fixed your pledge even though it might haven't worked. The best way to confirm is to refresh the page and not having the red banner on the top; alternatively try looking in your mail for the proper confirmation. Backers with errored pledges have 7 days to fix it and Kickstarter will automatically retry at the end of the 7-day window. If you are not able to fix it within that time, your pledge will be automatically marked as dropped. Don't worry, you will still have 2 opportunities to fix it:

  • The first will be when we send the surveys (in about 3 weeks). We may be able to charge your card properly in our platform.
  • The next will be some months after the surveys are sent, we will be able to enable PayPal payments.

We will be here to provide support. But rest assured that your pledge info is still on record and you will have some opportunities to fix payment in the future. However, it is better to fix the payment in Kickstarter so that you still receive the project updates directly. Having said all of this, your last resource is to ask someone else (a friend or family member) for their card so you can try different cards Visa, American Express, Master Card until the payment is successful.

Pledge manager

We will fully cover this topic later once it goes live but just to point the basics for newcomers:

  • Now that the campaign has finished we have to prepare the files and proper access to them and you need to let us know which optional buys (add-ons) you want. This is done by answering a survey (in 4-5 weeks) that you need to fill as soon as possible.
  • In addition to letting us know your selection of add-ons, you will also share with us some details from your order such as your mailing address (to send you your physical rewards), and whether you want to connect with 3D printing services near your area.
  • Your shipping fee will be calculated automatically based on the items; you will pay for shipping fees there and may add extra funds for other items.
  • Some of the optional buys you will find in the pledge manager are: rewards from this campaign, Dragon Hunting Pack, physical artprints from the Legendary Dragons by Jetpack7, Epic Encounters PDF for Dragons of the Red Moon.

It is better to answer the survey in Lair as soon as possible.

We are building our own platform for you to store all your files easily and find/offer 3D printing or painting services. Merchant backers interested in Commercial licenses for selling prints will find the final terms and conditions here. These features will be enabled one month after the surveys are sent but we are doing our best to achieve it sooner.

We will remind you about all of this in future updates. Thanks again for such a remarkable campaign!

Amazing final boost! 2 more SG + collaboration with Arcane Minis (Skies of Sordane)
over 4 years ago – Thu, Apr 23, 2020 at 11:02:39 PM

Well job everyone and welcome new backers! We have been spreading the word all day long about the last 24 hrs of the campaign and we have seen many posts from you in Facebook groups and social media! All that effort and a surprising update from Arcane Minis (scroll down!) helped us reach two new stretch goals earlier today!

The Snatcher. This crossbred creature lacks all instincts from a normal dragon. It is a great host to everyone who is taken as prisioner and tries not to escape. Immryg-Umryss learns through trial and error or with the knowledge shared by its hostages who also learn from the dragon but rarely live to use that knowledge in the outside world.

The Traveler in Silver Mist. Long ago, Golthaarius was a regular silver dragon who sought truths in the Material Plane. He became selfish and stopped caring for the protagonists of the stories he collected, his focus was in the historical collection itself. He reached beyond the Material Plane to gather more truths until he contacted with a consciousness who whispered an offer Golthaarius could not refuse. Since then, the dragon has trascended in the Astral Plane soaring though outer planes to expand his collection of memories.

These two dragons will be added to your Core STL bundle and we are excited to see that Vyraetra finally made its way. We are halfway there, let's keep spreading the word!

Since the first moment we conceived the idea for the Dragon Hunting pack, we had clarity of who would be a perfect fit for the Airship sculpt. Most of the members in our team are avid backers and/or makers as well, and Skies of Sordane from Arcane Minis is a project that we consider truly extraordinary.

We have been talking with Benny (who by the way is an awesome guy) about the details to make this happen.  We can finally confirm that Benny and his team will be in charge of the Dragon Hunting Airship! If you haven't seen their work, prepare yourself for a breathtaking sight of what you can expect for the playable interiors of the Dragon Hunting Airship:

Carren Pirates Sintel Class Frigate a model from Skies of Sordane. Not actual Dragon Hunt airship.

Skies of Sordane has 18 incredible airships with fully playable interiors plus modular options and 95 minis. All of that was available in their Kickstarter, if you missed it, do not worry, you can still join to their pledge manager and get access to all that content for a spectacular price and a Kickstarter exclusive dragon for your draconic collection! But this special price for Skies of Sordane an the Arcane Dragon models will only be available until May 1st. Here's the link to their Pledge Manager: https://www.myminifactory.com/campaigns/skies-of-sordane-17

In addition, we want to celebrate this collaboration even more! Backers in an All-in tier from Skies of Sordane pledge manager (or their past Kickstarter) will also receive the Dragon Hunting airship model for FREE plus a discount to upgrade to the full Dragon Hunting pack (with the RPG supplement and Dragon Hunting crew) in the pledge manager for Legendary Dragons.

The Arcane Dragon from Skies of Sordane seems as a great option to start your Dragon Hunting campaign and then, introducing more of the Legendary Dragons!

So for being a backer of Jetpack7, Draco Studios, Arcane Minis and LAIR you get many freebies in this campaign. We are very grateful with you for supporting new creators in such a wonderful industry!

Let's unlock the last 2 dragons in the book during these last hours of the campaign!
