Latest Updates from Our Project:

STL files fulfillment has begun!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Jul 14, 2020 at 09:52:27 AM

Great news: STL Fulfillment has started!

Earlier today, all backers in reward tier $25 and above should have received an email from DriveThruRPG to download the Core models for Legendary Dragons 3D along with some Stretch Goals (fulfilled early). Backers in reward tier $85 and above also received the all models for Dragons of the Red Moon.

Please check your email Inbox or SPAM folder.

As mentioned in past updates, our dev team is still struggling with some issues to release our platform (to be used as pledge manager and to access and store your STL files). The bugs from last week have been fixed and now the current issue concerns domain and mass emailing system to send surveys.

We are VERY thankful for your patience and support, but for us, it is of paramount importance to send your rewards. We are still working to deploy our platform/pledge manager but now you can start printing some of these impressive dragons!

Let us address some concerns you may have...

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why DriveThruRPG? How to use it?

Our parent company, Draco Studios, have used DriveThruRPG for fulfilling STL files of Dragons of the Red Moon in the past. It is a secure site where you can download your files. We recommend creating an account so you can access to your files in the future if you need it. Just click in the link found on your email and you will be able to redeem your code to download your files. We will let you know whenever we update the files.

  • Can't find any email from DriveThruRPG in my inbox or SPAM folder.

Feel free send an email to [email protected] with the subject "Missing Link" and Itzel from Draco Studios will be able to assist you from Monday to Friday. She will help you get your files for sure!

  • About loyalty rewards, the other Stretch Goals and PDF rewards

The rest of the STL Stretch Goals will be fulfilled within the next 2 weeks. Most likely, another batch will be sent next Friday and the third (last) batch will be sent 7 days after that. We hope to be able to do that with our platform but otherwise we will do so via DriveThruRPG.

For the Dragonbond Beta models (Loyalty reward) it is best for us to do it with the help of our pledge manager so the system verifies which backers previously backed Legendary Dragons from Jetpack7 or Dragons of the Red Moon from Draco Studios. But if deployment of the platform is still an issue, we will do it by hand. Regardless, that pack will also be fulfilled within this month.

The PDF book for Legendary Dragons is something we prefer to fulfill via our platform/pledge manager so watermarking with backers' email is made automatically by our system. We will let you know in upcoming updates the status of our platform.

  •  About add-ons, upgrading reward tier and merchant/commercial license

DrivethruRPG will not replace or change the fact that we will release our pledge manager and full platform. It is just taking longer for us to complete it. Getting commercial license to sell prints, upgrading reward tier and including optional add-ons to your pledge (or allocating extra funds pledge in the Kickstarter for them) will take place in the pledge manager. And we are committed to keep you all updated about the status for this.

  • About Presupported files

While we didn't offered pre-supported files as part of the rewards, this is something we are now considering in our roadmap. After fulfilling all files –consolidated and split– as they are (without supports), we will start working on pre-supported files for you as an extra perk. We are very grateful for your support!

STL FILES TROUBLESHOOTING

Now that files have been sent, we would love to hear if you find any errors on them that we should fix. The best way to let us know about any possible issues is in the Discord server or Facebook ambassadors group for Draco Studios.

You can also share pictures of your 3D prints with us of all your prints there (Discord, Facebook or even Instagram from @Draco_Studios).

Right now, we are aware of the Red Great Wyrm issue with the unaligned tail and wings with thin sections.

Here are some additional prints we completed this week. Just as the others, these are scaled down to a height of 50mm and printed with resin on an Elegoo Mars. You can expect higher definition when printing at full size.

For Jörmungand, we will re-visit the base so the main section can stand on its own.

The collection of prints is looking fantastic! We hope to finish printing the last models this month!

That's all for now but we will definitely be in touch here, in the comments and on Discord. Please share any pictures of your 3D prints with us! We would love to see them, and if you liked Dragons of the Red Moon by Draco Studios, you can now rate them here.

More Test prints!
over 4 years ago – Tue, Jun 30, 2020 at 11:39:26 PM

Hello,

We are back with more pictures of some resin test prints and a quick status update. Let's start with the latter.

As you know, we have been developing our platform LAIR since 9 months ago. We want this place to be the site where you are able to store your files safely to avoid unfortunate situations of data loss in your local drives, be able upload/download variants of them such as pre-supported, or extra split, plus having the opportunity to offer or hiring 3D printing services to people near your area. This site is expected to be our own pledge manager.

One month ago, we got some issues with deployment of the site and even though they were fixed by changing the server, we are still struggling and fixing (minor) issues.

We are extremely grateful for your support and having finished the sculpts, we are eager to send your STL files and seeing your 3D prints. This slight delay is frustrating for us but we are very thankful for your patience and understanding. Our technical lead informed the team that it seems very likely for the site and pledge manager to be up and running next week. However, in case we are not able to deploy the platform next week, we will start distributing the files next week via DriveThruRPG so you can start printing them next week.

Thanks again for bearing with us, the final countdown to start printing has arrived.

Now, let us show you more of the test prints. These are not primed yet, printed on an Elegoo Mars at scaled down to 50mm using the consolidated file so you can expect definition to be higher at full scale. We are looking for any possible issues on the files to fix them.

We truly can't wait to see all your 3D prints and paint jobs. To hear your stories around the table with these. Next week all of this will begin.

Finally, we have been paying attention to your requests for us to have more constant communication. While we have aimed to have at least 1 update every 2 weeks, we will now aim to have 1 weekly update. Some of them might be short, but that way you will have a better understanding of the status.

Thanks again for your support!

Test prints and Golthaarius model
over 4 years ago – Sat, Jun 20, 2020 at 08:31:22 PM

 Hello everyone!

We are back with more exciting screenshots and pictures to share!

But first, we would like to share the status about the pledge manager: Surveys have not been sent yet. This past Monday we managed to fix a major block with the deployment of the platform. We were very glad to move forward and our dev team is still adjusting and fixing things. We expect to have the final revisions in the next week so you get access to your files by the end of June!

So, even though the pledge manager has been delayed, as promised in the timeline in the Kickstarter description, you will get access to the core files on time! And as you have seen in previous updates, you will also receive almost all the stretch goals about 2 months early!

Now let's see the final sculpts! In the past weeks we have shown you the progress with the stretch goals and nearly all of them are completed. Here's the final piece for Tyrnin, whose art was illustrated by Tom Babbey and sculpt by Daniel Ehrli (Axolote Gaming). Both of them created all the Dragons of the Red Moon and are part of the core team at Draco Studios (our parent company) for another project called Dragonbond. So it is a fun coincidence that they were matched once again to bring this amazing two-headed dragon:

And finally, the last dragon for which we hadn't shown pictures in the past is Golthaarius, sculpted by Kylian. This was one of the hardest and took many revisions of our creative director and Kylian. We know that for many of our dear backers, this is their favorite of all Legendary Dragons by Jetpack7; we managed to make justice to this piece and it is truly a one-of-a-kind model.

Photorealistic 3D render.

The flow of the shape was very tricky to get right with the perspective but the final model has a very balanced and mesmerizing curves. It feels just as it needed to be, as if this dragon is flying and traveling in the Astral Plane:

The split is very straightforward as the rest of the dragons so you don't struggle with assembly.

And here's a closer look at the head and those majestic and unique horns that give so much personality to this dragon.

We reached a milestone!

All models in the core bundle + stretch goals with existing art have been finished!!!

We are just missing Feth'Razaal (Fury's dragon form) and the models in the Dragon Hunting pack. For those, Jetpack7 commissioned new art for the RPG Mini adventure of Fury and the Dragon Hunting RPG Supplement. We will wait until the art is finished before we start with sculpting for those.

3D Printing optimization

Now that all screenshots of the models have finished (until when we get the art for the pending ones) we start a new stage with these updates. We will share actual 3D prints pictures (from us and soon, from you). The following pictures are from our team's test prints.

We started with the small minis, and found a couple of issues such as Puggon's wings and Dragonant's antennae which were too thin and we are making the proper corrections to the files now.  All of the following were printed with an Elegoo Mars and pictures were taken before cleanup:

Puggon
Dragonant
Dräken
Fury
Kobold Brute
Kobold Schemer
Kobold Scoundrel
Salthezau Demon

We are using supports for these tests and while we don't want to make any promises yet, we might be able to upload an additional folder with pre-supported files for some of the models. This is not a final decision yet but we understand it would make it simpler for some users, and this folder will be in addition to the original files as we understand there are different settings and printing needs for all the 3D printers out there.

Puggon with supports

Next, we are starting test prints for the consolidated files (without splitting) scaled down. After that, we will also make test prints of the split files without scaling down. Here's a picture of a small resin Glitz:

Thanks again for sharing your comments, excitement and passion with us. We are so glad to have partnered with Jetpack7 to make their wonderful concepts be one step closer to physical reality. Now we are eager to send you the files and luckily, our dev team is making progress with the pledge manager. We will stay in touch in the coming weeks to keep you updated about it so you start printing very very soon!

Pledge Manager slight delay
over 4 years ago – Fri, Jun 05, 2020 at 11:23:38 PM

Hello!

We are back to show you a lot of cool screenshots of the Stretch Goal dragons progress (we are moving faster than expected!!).

But first, let's talk a little bit about the pledge manager to clarify some questions you may have.

We are not using Backerkit or any other pledge manager or digital distribution platform.  As mentioned in the campaign, we have been developing our platform LAIR since August 2019 which is intended to become a community for tabletop 3D printing assets where you can store your files and share your pictures of your prints, find or offer printing services near your area and more.

PLEDGE MANAGER HAS NOT BEEN SENT YET.

Website deployment has experienced delay because of technical issues. 2 weeks ago we found issues with deployment and while we have been able to fix most of them we are still struggling with AWS to make it work properly. Our lead developer has been working non-stop on this issue for 2 weeks and we expect to be fixed within June.

So bad news is that pledge manager is not ready yet (so you haven't missed any survey). But the good news is that we are making progress with the rest of the Stretch Goal dragons VERY FAST! So once pledge manager is ready, you will have instant access to almost all STL and PDF files from this campaign. Except for the Dragon Hunting pack which will be sculpted in July by our friends from Arcane Minis and ready in August.  Physical rewards are still expected to be fulfilled in August as originally.

We are very sorry for this delay but we are working hard to fix it and in a couple of weeks all STL files will be ready. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Now, let's take a look at these extraordinary sculpts you are getting! We are eager to see your prints and paint jobs for all of these!!

First we have Naghi, by Roberto Chaudon. This dragon kept looking better and better on each revision and Roberto did a great job to get the texture right.

As we promised, we included the spectral piece so you can print it in transparent resin and mount it in the petrified body.  We are about to start test prints for this piece but it will have a couple of extra locks to secure it place and remove it.

And here's how Naghi looks with the petrified and spectral pieces.

As you know, you will get the consolidated full body file and the split file for smaller printers. Here's how the splitting for Naghi looks.

Next we have Immryg-Umriss by Valerio Carbone. Last time we showed you the work in progress sculpt which looked like this.

Since then, we improved detail in the texture and here's the final sculpt.

This dragon will be split like this:

We have some early work in progress pictures for Golthaarius but we will share screenshots for it in the next update. We struggled a little bit with perspective and made quick sketches to get it right. Spoiler alert: Pose is looking fantastic!

In a similar way, Kur illustration does not show all of the dragon's anatomy so we had additional sketches made to sculpt the full dragon. We are still under revisions to change the feet and general head form as well as the sting at the end of the tail but these screenshots already show an clear look of the epicness for this model by David Pereira.

Expect larger images for Kur in the next update.

One of the dragons that we were very excited to create is Tyrnin. Tom Babbey illustrated that unique two-headed dragon, and Tom is also art director for Dragonbond universe from Draco Studios. In a similar way, Tyrnin is being sculpted by Daniel Ehrli (Axolote Gaming) who is the creative director in Draco Studios. All Dragons of the Red Moon were illustrated by Tom Babbey and sculpted by Daniel Ehrli so we were very much looking forward to see Tyrnin sculpted. Here's a preview of the current work in progress:

Before revealing the last dragon sculpt for today let's take a look at some of the final stretch goals you unlocked in the campaign.

Here's the Drake of Displacement sculpted by Rakib.

Goh also did a great job with all three Kobolds. As small creatures, we exaggerated a little bit the features and details so they print nicely at small size.

And speaking of small, the tiny Salthezau demons were sculpted by Francesco Orru. Here's the general anatomy.

We are making a swarm of these flying tiny creatures so you can build your adventure with Salathiir.

And finally, here's Salathiir in all his evil majesty. We are very proud of this model and we are sure it will evoke all kind of reactions around your table.

This might the the split model with the most pieces but the keys will be useful to get the build right.

Townsmith collaboration: Legendary Dragons in Townbuilder Unlimited!

We are really excited to announce the collaboration with Christopher Adam and his highly talented team, conformed by Tom, Christopher, Monika, and Leevke. They brought an amazing project to Kickstarter: Townbuilder Unlimited which we are very much looking forward to try!

Townbuilder is a custom creation tool with supportless 3D Printable Buildings for Tabletop Games. Preorders in Backerkit are now open! Check it out!

Christopher suggested that some of the Legendary Dragons head pieces could become a trophy for keeps, taverns, and homesteads. Something cool to show off a successful hunt in the guildhall or home keep.

Of course, we and Jetpack7 were on board! This goes perfectly to finish your Dragon Hunting adventures or planning a full Dragon Hunting campaign with trophies or ornament in the dragon's lair.

These Dragon Head Hunting Trophies will be available as an Add On in Townbuilder for only 6 euros. Including a total of 15 dragon heads to display in your buildings.

You will be able to find:

  • Balaur
  • Balleg
  • Feth'Razaal (Fury in Dragon Form)
  • Ilizinnii
  • Immryg-Umryss
  • Kur
  • Salathiir
  • Xylaarion
  • Tyrnin
  • Xavour
  • Red Great Wyrm
  • Naghi
  • Vyraetra
  • Zuth
  • Drake of Displacement

Dragons with Good alignment and some of the ones with Neutral alignment were left out of this pack on purpose.

In the sign builder, these trophies can be customized with names, dates, or numbers.

We are very excited for this collaboration! Legendary Dragons 3D has been a very exciting project on its own but being able to collaborate with such talented teams makes it even better. Jetpack7, Draco Studios (parent company of Lair), Arcane Minis and now Townsmith!

But all of this is possible thanks to you, our beloved backers! You allow us to make our dreams come true and because of that, we want to offer you the best content for 3D printing, RPG and miniature painting!

We will be in touch next week for more updates about the pledge manager deployment.

Stretch Goals progress
over 4 years ago – Thu, May 21, 2020 at 09:00:38 PM

Hello everyone!

In our attempt to keep you updated as much as possible, we are back again with more awesome previews of the dragons. This time we will share a ton of images of how are we planning to split the dragons.

First we have Vyraetra sculpted by Danko. Note that the parts in this picture are not in the same scale because it was intended for revision of the cuts and keys but for sure, in your files they will be of the same scale.

We also have finished Ilizinnii sculpted by Kylian. Here are some screenshots of the progress:

360 turn around
We decided to include a scenic base.
Ilizinnii close up.
Ilizinnii split.

This dragon came out truly great! Can't wait to see the paint jobs you share with us:

Roberto Chaudon has started on Naghi. As announced before, we plan to make a separate piece for the projection. We plan this to be mounted in the petrified Naghi and will include the front limbs if possible. After this is done, we will review if it is possible to have the projection stand on its own as well so you have more versatility to use it in RPG adventures.

Xavour was sculpted by a new sculptor in our team (welcome Rakib!). It took quite some revisions to get right the blocking for this dragon but at the end, sculptor and creative director nailed it! Of course, we couldn't wrap this up without its scenic base which has been sculpted already and included in your files!

Colors mark the split intended for this model.

After finishing an amazing Zuth, Valerio has started on Immryg-Umryss. This one is at the very first round of revision, please don't mind the pose yet. We are sure this one will be a great model too!

We are also welcoming Francesco to our sculpting team who is in charge of sculpting Salathiir and the Salthezau demons. We will try some fun ideas with these two models to see if we can incorporate some trace of the tiny demons on this dragon. Still at the very first rounds of revisions but it is looking awesome!

And finally, just in time to post this update, we got the first revision for the Dragonant by Goh! We still need to define the proper scale for this, feel free to share your thoughts about this. We are always eager to hear!

We can't believe how fast we are progressing with so many sculpts! And it is all thanks to your support! We want to express our gratitude by doing a great job for you all.

Some dragons such as Kur and Golthaarius are about to start, we needed first to elaborate on the art to sculpt their anatomy correctly.

Pledge Manager survey (access to files)

We are still setting up the pledge manager so no surveys has been sent yet. We expect to have more news about it in our next update. The good news is that you will be getting a lot of the stretch goals already once the surveys are sent!

Dodos Riding Dinos - Final hours

This is a project from Detestable Games, a sister company of us. The STL files for their models will be distributed in LAIR too so you can store them in the same place as your Legendary Dragons 3D STL files.

The campaign has 2 hours left and the last stretch goals includes a new STL model:

10 core models + 3 more not sculpted yet (ankylosaurus, compsognathus pulling a large dodo, and mecha-chicken-dimetrodon)

Over 4100 backers, see campaign here.
